Journey of Phoenix
Rotary Club of Vapi Phoenix - a brain child of past 6 Rotarians – Rajan, Hemant, Himanshu, Dewang, Vishal and Sudha. Their faith in Rotary did not diminish even after they had gone through some bad experiences. Rotary has had an everlasting impact in our lives – it’s a well-structured organization which has given all of us so many good friends in the district and beyond across the globe, along with opportunities to serve. The motto of Rotary - Service above Self has been imbedded in our very being and it has become our way of life. We decided to get together and start a new Club and win over the trust and confidence of all our old Rotarians friends. We decided to meet PDG Anish Shah, who warmly welcomed our idea and believing in our confidence gave us guidance which paved the path of forming a new club.
Our initial thought was to begin with small number of members, but we seldom knew that we had 2 great minds with us - Hemant & Vishal and with their ocean of contacts – we were able to win the confidence of all our friends and they showed their interest in joining Rotary. Since, most of our friends were not from Rotary, we decided to have an Orientation meeting on 28th June 2021 and explain them about the functioning of Rotary. We gave them a brief background on the structure and the programs undertaken by Rotary throughout the world and in our country in service to the community. We had a full house gathering of around 65-70 people attending the meeting – out of which 60 members immediately agreed to join our endeavour and filled up the forms as well as paid the Charter membership fees.
We were able to hand over the Club Registration form along with Charter members list to DG Santosh Pradhan on 1st July 2021.
DG Santosh Pradhan too bestowed trust and confidence in us and approved our application and appointed our dear friend and well-wisher Rotarian Vipul Patel as our GSR.
Thus, Rotary Club of Vapi Phoenix become the First New club of RI Dist. 3060 for the year 2021-22. For us it was like rising from the ashes after being burnt down – so the name PHOENIX – and we will rise and shine with the support and confidence of our fellow members. The Flight of Phoenix begins from 14th July 2021 (Charter date).
